My baby’s feet smell 🧀Updated 4 months ago

Don’t panic — this has a super simple explanation… and an even simpler fix! 😅

That cheesy smell happens when sweat mixes with the natural bacteria we all have on our skin. As it breaks down, it produces ammonia and fatty acids 🧀 — and that’s where the odor comes from.

Here’s how to stop it:

🌬️ Air out the shoes every night.
Remove the insoles and let them breathe so any sweat can fully evaporate.
If the smell is strong or stubborn, sprinkle some baking soda on the insoles — it works like magic!

🧼 Clean both the insoles and the inside of the shoes.

  • Hand wash the insoles with mild soap and a damp cloth.

  • Use a cotton pad with a bit of alcohol to wipe the rubber sole inside the shoe after removing the insole.

👃 Still smelly after all that? We’ve got a secret trick:

Grab a classic wooden clothespin, break it in half, and add a drop of clove essential oil to each piece.
With the insole removed, place the pin halves inside the shoes overnight. 😴
By morning — poof! — odor gone!

Wondering what the clothespin does? 😝
Well, the wood absorbs the oil without letting it touch the inside of the shoe directly. It’s a reusable, eco-friendly solution (much better than cotton balls!).
