New PSD2 Online Payment Regulation 🛒💳Updated 4 months ago

If you shop online regularly, you’ve probably heard of PSD2, the new European regulation for online payments in e-commerce.

The goal of this directive is to make digital payments more secure and consistent across all EU countries, ensuring every customer has the highest level of protection when making a payment.
PSD2 is the “upgraded” version of the original regulation that had been in place since 2007.

🔐 What’s new with PSD2?

The biggest change is the introduction of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) — this means your bank must verify your identity and confirm you truly intend to make the payment.

To do this, at least two of the following three elements must be used:

  • Something you own (like a smart card or smartphone) 💳

  • Something you know (like a PIN or password) 🔑

  • Something you are (like a fingerprint, voice, or facial recognition) 😉

📱 What do you need to make a successful payment?

  • Your mobile number must be linked to the card you want to use.

  • Keep your phone nearby when placing the order.

  • Have your bank’s app installed and notifications (either push or SMS) enabled.

Once you click “Place Order”, your bank will ask for confirmation.
Make sure you’re ready to respond quickly to complete the payment smoothly. 💪🏻

If you have any issues during the payment process, contact your bank directly — they’ll explain the specific steps needed to authorize payments using their system. 🏦
